20160130_151650When I start moving, my being starts to move as well. Sometimes, as I experienced last summer, with a sudden burst of emotion. It is not something I control or wish for. It just happens. it is there and it will not be controlled. As it did today. Today is not a good day for walking, either. Cold, wet, and dreary. With all the global changes, today seems to be for ever winter and every winter will for ever be like this.  A frightful, muddy place to be when you feel lonely and disconnected. I believe in part loneliness comes from not being able or to find it impossible to connect. From not being seen or heard, from being unable to share you innermost being, your soul. When you reach out and cannot cross the gap.

Time for comfort, for comforting words. Words that fill the space between where we are and where we would want to be.

“This is the time to be slow,
Lie low to the wall
Until the bitter weather passes.

Try, as best you can, not to let
The wire brush of doubt
Scrape from your heart
All sense of yourself
And your hesitant light.

If you remain generous,
Time will come good;
And you will find your feet
Again on fresh pastures of promise,
Where the air will be kind
And blushed with beginning.”
John O’Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings
