Coincidentally (?) I come across Rainer Maria Rilke again while I am preparing for my journey through Austria and the Balkans. Rilke is an Austrian poet, I have quoted him regularly in my writings. Last week I encountered him again in a poem that someone showed me. I recognized it, I have in somewhat different translation in my digital poetry book:
…I would like to beg you dear Sir, as well as I can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.
Maybe it’s the best motto to start my journey with next Sunday. To realise that you have even more in common than you thought you had. And to know that you are never alone in your journeys. That we are never alone in our journeys.
We can also show that by donating to the cause of refugees, which you can do on the page “join up”. The third part of my writings, called “Solid Ground” can now be downloaded from the site. It has become part of one book. A book that is not finished yet. I also keep on living my questions…
